Mantis Supports Florence in Drive to Cut Care Home Nursing Crisis

Written by Eleanor Willock

Mantis is now working with tech start-up, Florence, which has developed an innovative platform to revolutionise healthcare recruitment. Care home managers can connect directly with freelance nurses looking for shifts via the Florence website – helping them to ease staffing pressures and exercise greater cost control. Focusing on building profile and increasing awareness and knowledge for the company and platform, the Mantis team will be introducing Florence’s experts to the care home trade media so that they can engage with the editors and influencers that matter most to their prospects and customers.

Florence was founded in 2016 by Dr Charles Armitage – an NHS doctor frustrated with the problems he could see in social care – and has quickly grown to boast over 20,000 freelance nurses registered on the platform. Uniquely positioned to help care home managers recruit nurses directly, it allows them to avoid incurring the costly and crippling agency fees that blight the industry. With care homes having spent over £1bn in 2017 on temporary staffing in social care, Florence is helping to drive costs and controversies down, and efficiency and continuity up.

“Florence has already enabled care homes to successfully on-board nurses up and down the country, saving them up to 20% in recruitment costs,” says Gavin Loader, managing director, Mantis. “The platform is really smart – using an algorithm and machine learning to make the best possible match between nurse and nursing home. It is the sort of company that we dream of supporting – a tech firm that is making a real difference to the lives of people and is ready to invest in boosting its profile and awareness.”

“The team at Mantis has a deep understanding of technology and the market we’re operating in,” says Bunie Anyaegbunam, chief marketing officer, Florence. “With its established portfolio of tech clients selling into the care and healthcare space, Mantis knows the journalists and influencers we need to connect with. Ultimately, we need care home managers to understand that Florence can help solve the staffing challenges they’re facing and save them a lot of money at the same time. I’m really look forward to seeing the campaign deliver.”
