Solutionpath – Raising the profile of student engagement analytics

Written by Rebecca Paddick

“It’s been fantastic working with Mantis to boost the profile of StREAM for nursing, and to highlight all our great achievements across HE and healthcare to date. We managed to create a range of engaging content that works for our own channels as well as the relevant media outlets we’ve been looking to target, which gets our name and messages out there. Mantis has felt like an extension to our in-house team, and we really value their ongoing support.”

Michelle Craig, Head of Marketing, Solutionpath.

An eight-month campaign resulting in:

  • 16 pieces of content
  • 21 pieces of coverage across edtech, higher ed, public sector, healthcare and nursing press
  • The combined total reach for all media coverage: 2,992,140

Overview:

In late 2021, we kicked off our partnership with Solutionpath, the student engagement analytics software provider. Its platform StREAM uses learning analytics to give universities a clear picture of student engagement. This helps them to easily identify risk to progression and to proactively support student retention, attainment, and well-being initiatives.

Solutionpath offer tech-enabled support to the higher education sector. Since 2020, it has also been using its data and insights platform to achieve successful outcomes for pre-registration nurses.

Approach – what objectives did we have?

The Mantis team was initially tasked with creating and increasing awareness of Solutionpath’s products and services in the nursing space, as a response to the government’s pledge for 50,000 more nurses by 2024.

We did this by highlighting the work the company has completed at leading universities, through media coverage in not just the education press, but across health and public sector media too. We worked with the University of Worcester to announce its partnership with Solutionpath, which explained how the platform is a “vital tool in its toolkit – helping to offer crucial support to students.”

Results – how did we meet our metrics?

We created different types of content as part of the campaign, including thought leadership bylined to Solutionpath’s COO, David Cole, which we placed in top tier nursing title Nursing Standard.

As the world began to adjust to life in a post-Covid world, the Mantis team expanded its PR campaign to cover the wider higher education, edtech and engagement analytics topics.

We utilised Solutionpath’s CEO, Richard Gascoigne, and his wealth of experience of learner analytics, to create thought provoking opinion pieces on social mobility; securing coverage in both the edtech and public sector press. In fact, the combined total reach for this one piece of content was more than two million!

We saw similar success with another piece from the CEO on how ‘How proactive tech practitioners can boost student engagement.’

We finished our Spring/Summer campaign with a fantastic customer-led thought leadership piece by Aston University on the impact of early engagement on a student’s academic future.

While creating this earned media work, we also supported Solutionpath’s marketing team with social media posts and blogs so that there was a consistent stream of joined-up content across all of its external marketing channels.

Our take on what worked well, and why

By creating a wide range of content we’ve enabled Solutionpath to spread the word on its multi-sector work to date, across its own channels and to targeted trade media audiences.

We’ve unearthed real-life stories from customers, announced company and product news, and positioned Solutionpath’s leadership team as experts who can offer thought provoking commentary on topical issues and key trends.

Our aim was to create a diversity of content so audiences sit up and take notice, and continue to come back for more, and we’ve done just that.

We’re excited to begin our new chapter with Solutionpath this September, where the start of the academic year will surely bring fresh ideas and exciting news for the leading the student engagement analytics software provider and its university partners.
